Unfor...Wow – this is exciting to read this article. Unfortunately, the Christian in our nation faces discrimination all the time. Politicians want to uphold rights, but forget the rights of the Christian and they don’t think it’s discrimination.

In the last year Dr. Dobson of Focus on the Family has been advocating for continual prayer for these two positions on the Supreme Court. These two positions can change this nation and we must be praying to ensure that Godly, conservative individuals will be confirmed on these seats. The future of our nation does depends on it; whether people want to accept this or not. The new individuals on the court may not vote in every situation that we desire, but if they have a foundation that is rooted in God’s law, then for me, they are a better choice than the typical liberal democrat. I believe it is not by accident these two positions became available during Bush’s presidency. I believe the prayers of the faithful in our nation have been heard and God will ultimately put in place whom he desires. We need to pray for our nation and for every position of power that becomes available. Unfortunately, most Christians do not take these vacancies serious enough to pray diligently, but of course they have a voice, just not directed towards heaven! Our children and our grandchildren’s future depend on it. Pray for God’s perfect will for this next vacancy.Teresa O.https://www.blogger.com/profile/10080310093647287174noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11319911.post-1128528198861743452005-10-05T12:03:00.000-04:002005-10-05T12:03:00.000-04:00I believe that God works in mysterious ways...and ...I believe that God works in mysterious ways...and it seems that none is more mysterious than the "official" record of Ms. Miers. I will trust that God did a work in the President in making this selection and that Miers will serve God in her new job, should she get it. I've read enough from her "friends" (I hope my friends never get this open on me with reporters without asking first) and her co-workers to start to understand where she will line up on "big-ticket" issues. She will line up with God...that's good enough for me.

As far as whether evangelicals should be in politics or public office, I say what better place for them/us? For so long, it has almost been policy from churches that members should avoid the "pitfall" of politics...and we've seen our country move further and further into immorality and decadence. We are touching people one by one, carrying the Good News to the hearts within our reach...how do we expand that reach? We talked about this a little last year when Mel Gibson brought out "The Passion" and thought it amazing that, though churches were touching people by the thousands across the country, God (through Gibson) touched millions through a medium that the conservative church long thought sinful. Shouldn't we take advantage of any opportunity to present God, and the Good News, to people? Politics, like movies, can be a cesspool for the unwary or unprepared...but they can also be an effective lectern to "seed" the earth.

That said, would I ever go into politics? I don't know...I've thought about it and it wasn't my faith that has kept me from doing so, it was God telling me I had other things to do...first! We'll see where His plan leads me.

God bless.

JonJonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14469481410390815424noreply@blogger.com
